University Reaffirms Support for National Guard and Reserve Employees

On Nov. 8, Kent Syverud, Chancellor and President of Syracuse University, signed an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Statement of Support in a ceremony at the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF). University to Mark Veterans Day on Friday

On Friday, Nov. 11, the United States celebrates Veterans Day, a federal holiday honoring the men and women who have worn the uniform of this nation. Syracuse to Host Black Lives Matter Panel Discussion Nov. 9

“Black Lives Matter in Art, History and Literature,” will be the topic of a panel hosted by the Department of African American Studies, which will take place on Nov. 9 in 214 Slocum Hall from 5:30-7 p.m. The event will feature scholars in art, history and literature whose interdisciplinary research intersects with the current social and political conversations surrounding the modern civil rights movement Black Lives Matter. The scholars will engage the Syracuse student body, faculty and staff on the historical trajectory of Black Lives Matter and how its origins trace back to the early formation of protest and resistance within Black America and the African diaspora at large. Live Virtual Conference: ‘Accessing Higher Ground: Accessible Media, Web and Technology ‘

All University faculty, staff and students are invited to the virtual version of “Accessing Higher Ground,” a live, web-based conference focused on accessible media, web and technology, presented by the Association on Higher Education And Disability (AHEAD). The 19th annual main conference will be held Wednesday-Friday, Nov. 16-18, and will be hosted in two locations on the SU campus. Registration is free; please register online by Friday, Nov. 11,  if you plan to attend any sessions. Once registered, you may attend any of the virtual main sessions.
