Office of Program Development Adopts New Name, Adds Alumni Advisory Council

Syracuse University’s Office of Program Development has a new name: the Office of Multicultural Advancement. Simultaneously, the office has announced the formation of a new alumni advisory council. Both moves are intended to further the Office of Multicultural Advancement’s mission fostering diverse alumni involvement with the University and supporting Black and Latino students.

Neal Powless G’08 to Head University Ombuds Office

Syracuse University today announced the appointment of Neal Powless G’08 to the post of University ombuds. In this role, Powless will serve the campus community as a neutral, independent, informal and confidential resource for faculty, staff and graduate students who are seeking assistance to answer questions and resolve concerns. Powless’ appointment is effective on Tuesday, Jan. 22.

For Gabriela González G’95, life is a honeymoon—to quote a recent country hit. No sooner had the renowned physicist returned from her own honeymoon than she and her husband, fellow Argentinian theorist Jorge Pullin, moved the party to Syracuse in 1989. Swapping modest digs in Central Argentina for similar ones in Central New York, the newlyweds found themselves at the future epicenter of gravitational-wave astronomy.
