Diversity and Inclusion Administrative Fellowships

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion offers staff members opportunities to serve as fellows and contribute to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) projects and research that support the goals of the five-year strategic DEIA plan.

What is a fellowship?

Fellowships are funded, short-term opportunities to serve as a member of a campus department or academic unit. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion offers campus staff members an administrative fellowship to promote the scholarship and research that staff members bring to their work environment.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion Administrative Fellowship promotes leadership and professional development of current Syracuse University employees who are mid-level staff. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion administrative fellows receive funding to engage in a program or research project the term of which can be two years to advance the priorities outlined in the diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) strategic plan. The administrative fellows maintain their current roles while dedicating a specified number of hours to their fellowship work.

Administrative  Fellowship Benefits

In addition to providing dedicated time to scholarship and research, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion fellowships offer a variety of benefits:

  • Formal desigation as an Office of Diversity and Inclusion administrative fellow
  • Professional development funds up to $1,500 each year to attend the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity (NCORE) or other professional development opportunities focused on DEIA
  • Program funds up to $5,000 each year for approved projects and initiatives
  • A stipend of $10,000 each year
  • Mentorship from the vice president for diversity and inclusion and other senior leaders
  • Opportunities to participate in ODI retreats, meetings and professional development
  • Opportunities to participate in DEIA committees and working groups
  • Opportunities to participate in community engagement events
