Call for Submissions: Featured Student Artwork
Are you an aspiring or accomplished artist seeking to showcase your talent? Are you a student at SU or SUNY ESF? If so, this opportunity may be right for you.
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) seeks to feature artwork from current students at Syracuse University and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. The selected artwork will be on display throughout the garden level floor of Steele Hall, home of the forthcoming Belonging Suite and the SENSES Project.
Artwork submissions can consist of a wide array of mediums, including, but not limited to paintings, photography, mixed media, sculptures, and drawings.
Submitters must include:
- An artist statement or a creative statement
- The specific art medium and details of the dimensions/sizing
- An image of the artwork (if complete) OR a description or sketches of the artwork and intended final product (if in progress)
Thematic requirements:
- Artwork must be connected to an overarching theme of belonging* (see below)
Considerations for selected artwork:
- Artwork must be ready-to-display or free-standing (frames for wall hangings will not be provided; frames must be compatible with D-ring hangers)
- Artwork must be delivered to Steele Hall by May 9, 2025
Submissions open to: Any current student at Syracuse University and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry
Submission window: March 3, 2025 – March 24, 2025
Display period: Fall 2025 – Spring 2026
*The theme of belonging could incorporate related notions, including but not limited to community, connection, affinity, inclusion, humanity, communal thriving, acceptance, and support.
